Siesta City
Wealthy philanthropist Harry Dick takes a refreshing nap after spending a morning lobbying for human rights. What a humanitarian! Way to go, Harry Dick!

Sleepy Time
Summer in Thompson is fresh and mild, like nowhere else on Earth.
After an afternoon of shopping, some folks like to grab forty winks in the open, Provence-style, like they do it in France.
Nobody minds a bit.
Everybody does it, from time to time.
Thanks to Mr. Sam for the pics.

Safety
Thompson, Manitoba is a safe, family-friendly town.
There are no street gangs, and organized crime is nearly nonexistant.
All crimes, particularly murders, are solved quickly and thoroughly by the local police force.
It's completely safe to walk Thompson's streets at night.
I'm Roy Barley.
If you want your Thompson photo posted here, feel free to send it my way.

RCMP Station
If you misbehave in Thompson, or have too much fun, you might be invited to spend the night in the city lock-up.
According to jailer Simon Birch*, no detainee has ever been sodomized by unruly cellmates or brutally beaten by enraged police officers.
"That just doesn't happen here," says Simon. "It's very peaceful, and our lodgers have a good rapport with the cops. If you want violence, I suppose you'd have to look in Brandon or Gimli. Thompson is a peaceful town."
* Simon Birch is a pseudonym.

Blustery Day
These highly skilled workers-- geologists, engineers and doctors-- are ducking for cover as winter blows one last kiss. Thompson is home to so many important people that someone once called it "The Vienna of the New World."

Wolves
One thing you'll notice about Thompson is the proponderance of wolf statues, each painted by local Special Needs Children.
The idea of cluttering towns with gaudy plaster tchotchkes originated in the nineties.
Provo, Utah, is littered with deer.
Peden, Alabama, has partridges.
Thompson has wolves, not unlike seven other Canadian towns.

The Turbulence of Love
Thompson, Manitoba can be as amorous as Paris, France.
But amour can be a rollercoaster-ride of responsibilities and raging hormones.
After a loving evening spent in the TD Bank alcove, this couple argues playfully about finances. A few shoves and friendly slaps later, and they are back in each other's loving arms.
